WWF-Romania is seeking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic
Senior Communication Officer
( full-time, based in Bucharest)


The senior communication adviser (SCA) contributes to the development of communication strategies and campaigns designed to mobilize and engage public segments on WWF initiatives.
The SCA is responsible for the development and implementation of the communication campaigns related to forests conservation, policy and business sector engagement.
The SCA will act based on approved financed projects, in alignment with overall WWF Communication Strategy within designated conservation projects and activities.
The Senior Communication Adviser reports to the WWF Romania Communication Manager.

Your duties will include:
Communication for conservation projects:
Plan, supervise and/or execute the communication activities approved the designated conservation Projects;
Develop integrated communication strategies (including plans of action and timeline) to support (and go beyond) projects objectives;
Communicate about designated projects at all levels (internal level – WWF Ro - regional level – WWF CEE - and to the other WWF offices if required;
Act as a “communication liaison” between conservation and communication / fundraising and corporate ensuring the adaptation of technical messages (conservation focused) for non-specialized targets;
Work with individual FR to provide content on designated conservation topics and to generate leads for FR;
Develop or contribute to new project ideas, based on achieved results/as a follow-up to finalised projects or to seize new opportunities;
Master the communication channels and tools and uses the right mix in order to engage with the various audiences:

WWF websites and social media: permanently updates relevant information on www.wwf.ro and other project websites/blogs, on Facebook and other social media channels (e.g. Twitter, You Tube);
PR: write and plan press releases and builds relationships with interested local journalists and bloggers;
Publications: write communications materials such as articles, interviews, news, presentations, different project publications (reports, studies, etc.);
Events: plan and organise stakeholder engagement/external promotion/media events at local and national level for projects she is responsible for, according to the projects activities;
support the organisation and participate in various other events: project team meetings, stakeholders meetings, workshops, trainings, seminars, field trips, street events.
Communication on forests:
Work together with conservation team and Fundraising and Communication Manager (FUMACO) to develop the communication strategies designed to promote WWF mission on forest conservation;
Develop communication campaigns to engage general public, mass media and specific stakeholders by working in collaboration with the other SR Communication Advisers;
Communication on policy and business sector:
Work together with policy team and FUMACO manager to develop communication strategies on relevant policy topics;
Coordinate the implementation of approved campaigns with internal and external partners;
Offer support to corporate partnerships by adapting conservation project content to be relevant for business environment.
General Communication Expertize:
Seek and create synergies with other projects and fields of activity, to capitalise on other opportunities, increase efficiency and boost impact;
Partnerships: seek and create partnerships with other WWF offices, other NGOs and public or commercial entities in order to meet or expand project results, to increase reach of messages, add new and relevant expertise to own (WWF) initiatives;
Work in close collaboration with service providers such as advertising agencies, programmers and publishing houses; issues/developments in fields of interest and (jointly) prepares reactions where necessary
Keep abreast of developments and innovations in the field of communications/marketing and imports relevant tools/ideas in order to reach and engage with (new) audiences
Keep abreast of the development and evolution of Forestry policy at national and EU level
We expect from you:
Adheres to the WWF mission, as well as LIVES the WWF Values: Strive for Impact, Listen Deeply, Collaborate Openly, Innovate Fearlessly
Knowledge:

Native language Romanian and fluent in English (oral and written);
University degree in relevant academic discipline as communications, media or journalism;
Working on website, mobile or platform development would be an added value;
Computer literacy and experience with website management;
Experience:

Minimum 5 years in communication with focus in any of the following areas: strategic planning, PR, and digital marketing
Experience with the issues and priorities of WWF, including e.g. environment and nature conservation, and work for an environmental organisation is an advantage but not a necessity

Skills and Abilities:
